Rhodesia and Nyasaland Stamps – Sharp-eyed stamp collectors will notice a gap in the Northern Rhodesia and Southern Rhodesia stamps issue and the Nyasaland Protectorate between 1954 and 1963 when the Central Africa Federation was formed. The first Rhodesia & Nyasaland stamps were issued on 1 July 1954 and a pictorials-only policy with a slightly- industrial theme gives stamp collectors the opportunity to complete the basic issues of a British African country. This includes significant rarities, the most important rarity is the 1959 3d ‘missing Rhodes grave’ black omitted error. Philatelists also hunt the valuable 1961 Postage Due 1d & 6d ‘imperf between’ pairs.
