GRENADA 1786 SLAVERY RELATED LETTER (March) a rare entire letter from Thomas Lithgow to George Dunlop in Ayr, Scotland, relating to The Belmont Estate (sugar plantation), with references to coffee, cocoa etc, with circular GRENADA/Crown mark, fine “DOVER/SHIP-LRE” and Bishop mark. Lithgow is listed in David Dobson’s work, “Scots in the West Indies 1707-1857”

Grenada Stamps – As with many other British colonies, from 1858 Grenada initially used stamps of Britain which were cancelled ‘A15’ at St George’s. From 1861 the Grenada Post Office assumed control and subsequently, the first Grenada Stamps, a 1d and 6d featuring the ‘Chalon’ portrait, were introduced. From 1875 additional values were introduced by surcharging an un-denominated stamp, again with the ‘Chalon’ portrait. To date Grenada has become one of the world’s most prolific producers.
